EIM: CLASSICAL MUSIC WITHIN REACH ALL
From "Carmina Burana" to "D'amour et d'Operette" by way of "Les Vepres a la vierge", the Ensemble Instrumental de la Mayenne (EIM) explores new ways during its next season 2006/2007 for the pleasure of eyes and ears.
Classical music is in fashion and opens to the public, proof is the success of the Folles journees de Nantes which generate a true infatuation. Composed with professional musicians, EIM has as mission to promote instrumental music and to participate in the cultural development of the department. Created in 1992 and supported by the Conseil general de la Mayenne, EIM, under the behaviour of his artistic director, Yves Parmentier, offers a various repertory : baroque, classical music, contemporary, operettas. The orchestra occurs regularly with choruses and notably with EVM, l'Ensemble Vocal de la Mayenne on the department, in Sarthe but also in other regions of France. One of the objectives of season 2006/2007 is to develop collaboration with musical education and to spread presentations on the whole territory of Mayenne. The season will start on the occasion of the Journees du Patrimoine in the church of Bonchamp where EIM will interpret several cantatas of Vivaldi for strings quartet and soloists. EIM will occur then on October 7th in the church Saint Venerand of Laval and introduce the very nice Faure's Requiem. This party will be opportunity to reveal programming 2006/2007 to the public.
After the deep success of D'Amour et d'Operettes during the festival Les Nuits de la Mayenne, the EIM orchestra will offer this show in several villages of the department. In May, on the occasion of the unveiling of the Theatre de Laval, the EIM will introduce the Karl Orff's Carmina Burana. Anxious about its pedagogic role, the Orchestra sets up, for 10 years, musical stories uniting every year more than 700 pupils of Mayennne and Sarthe around contemporary musicians' works. In June opportunity will be so to make discover classical music to the children of the primary school classes of Laval thanks to the poetic game l'Arbre Chanson. On December 8th, it is the Monteverdi's work Vepres a la Vierge, who will belong in honour in Laval. Besides us to reveal its works, EIM gives us the possibility of listening or re-listening to a music sometimes too little known. With objective apparently announced to "democratize" the "classical" repetory.
